One Region. One Future.
Chicago Metropolis 2020 is a business-backed civic organization promoting healthy regional growth.
Chicago Metropolis 2020 was created by The Commercial Club of Chicago, a membership organization of leading area business and civic leaders, in 1999 to advocate for better regional planning and smart investments in our future.
Some of those investments are in people. Chicago Metropolis 2020 has program areas in Early Care & Education, Justice & Violence, and Housing – each with the goal of enabling all residents of the six-county region (Cook, DuPage, Lake, McHenry, Kane, and Will) to reach their full potential.
Some of those investments are in physical infrastructure. Chicago Metropolis 2020 is working towards radical changes in the region’s land use and transportation policies. We seek to raise public awareness on these issues with which we are involved and to bring about concrete changes in public policy by:
- • Conducting quality analytical work.
- • Disseminating information to the media and key stakeholders on important policy topics.
- • Participating in the political process at the city, county, state, and federal levels.
- • Encouraging business leaders to speak out and act on issues of regional importance.
Our unifying vision is that the region's governments, businesses, and residents must work together to make the kinds of informed choices that will make the region attractive and economically competitive 10, 50, and 100 years from now.
